A couple of months ago I was introduced to Warhammer Underworlds: Shadespire, and have since gone all in on the game. I really love that the different warbands have a very strong character and gameplay feel to them, and yet all still seem relatively competitive. Games are quite quick compared to other miniature games, and the best-of-three tournament rounds structure really changes it up because even if you lost the first round, you can respond to what you saw your opponent do in the first to come back and win the second and third.
This article will talk a bit about the deck building process and some of the strengths and weaknesses of each warband.

So it’s been a while now since the Second Edition announcement for X-Wing, and I thought I would just post some of the thoughts from our group.

In this post I will discuss my thoughts following the announcement of X-Wing 2.0 and what I think it will mean for the game.

On New Year’s Eve at the end of 2017, I decided that I wanted to improve my X-Wing gaming, with the resolution goal of making Top 8 at a Regional in Australia, in order to get some sparkly dice (mission accomplished in Tasmania, thanks to an effort described by the Onyx Squadron 2m:40s into this video as pulling a Steven Bradbury all the way into second place).
In order to track my progress throughout the year, I decided to start collecting data from all the games of X-Wing that I play.
Last night was a small monthly tournament at one of our local game shops, with the tournament winning game also marking the 100th game of X-Wing I have played so far this year, so I thought I would share some of the data I have collected and insights I have gained from it.

After having attended the Tasmanian Regionals and making it to the final table in a roundabout fashion, I was a lot less nervous about the Victorian Regionals. That said, there was a lot of angst about one topic in particular in the lead up to the event… what list to fly?!?

When the 2018 X-Wing Regionals season started, I was hoping to attend at least two of them in Australia, certainly the Victorian one in Melbourne, but at least one other. It so happens that the opportunity to take a weekend away in Hobart came up, so I was able to attend the Tasmanian regional held at Good Games Hobart on March 3rd. Below is a battle report of all my matches throughout the day. Continue reading “Tasmanian X-Wing Regionals”
This is our first article about Imperial Assault. For those of you not familiar with the game, it’s a grid-based game that can be played in a competitive fashion where two players pitch squads against each other called Skirmish, or cooperatively in Campaigns where one player plays the imperial forces and up to 4 other players play as Rebel heroes. For more information about Imperial Assault, see the the FFG page here. Continue reading “Imperial Assault – The Road to Regionals”
It was a very busy second half of 2017 for the Dice-Drams-Draughts crew, life competing with gaming, new posts and partaking of beverages, and unfortunately new posts drew the short straw. If you follow us on Instagram you’ll see that we weren’t completely idle, sneaking in the occasional game and even winning a few accolades! Continue reading “We’re still here!”
I don’t think the tournament at General Games Malvern could have been any more different from Good Games Box Hill the week before. Don’t get me wrong, I love my local, but for events of this scale it’s nice when they run smoothly. Continue reading “Store Championships 2017 – Round 2, General Games Malvern”
Last Saturday the 15th was the first of the three Store Championships that I plan on attending and the only one that Benimus, Sinista, and I will participate in together.
To say that it was eventful would be a bit of an understatement for a few reasons: Continue reading “Store Championships 2017 – Round 1, Good Games Box Hill”
